I decided that I will post more frequently here on the blog. Most of the time it will be short thoughts thrown in here about my life, training and coaching.

Today I did the big Pali loop and remembered the first time I did this ride with a group years ago. It was a key experience. I had never done a group ride before and was scared. Scared because I knew that I will have to go through the Pali tunnel FAST in order not to loose the guys I was riding with. Secondly, I was afraid of getting a flat. Because that would have meant that everybody had to wait for me. And that was the last think I wanted: Be in the spotlight and forcing these guys for a break. But the law of attraction was at work, I hit a pothole and blew a tire just after going onto Pali HWY.
Today I thought differently about this situation. Maybe one of my new recommendations on "How to choose the right group for your training rides" will include: Pretend having a flat tire. The response of the group will most likely tell you what the group you are riding with. A social group will take the flat-mishap as a welcome break to chat about the Martini-Party the night before. If you find yourself going all out on upper body threshold work as you are trying to break tire pumping records because you don't wanna be left all alone, then you most likely are in a group that puts emphasis on pure effort.
